Information of Entrance Examination conducted in Summer

Department of Civil and Earth Resources Engineering and Department of Urban Management, Kyoto University Graduate School of Engineering, hold a joint entrance examination for Master's Program and Doctoral Program.
Applicants can download the Guidelines for Applicants to the 2016Master Course Program and Doctor Course Program (in Japanese) , partial English translations of them and English Supplemental Handout. The information below are outlines of the Admission Guides for reference purposes only and are subject to change without notice; be sure to confirm the details in the Admission Guides.
Applicants should contact supervising professors of preferred classifications and discuss application with them in advance. The preferred classifications are corresponding to the laboratories listed in this page for Department of Civil and Earth Resources Engineering and this page for Department of Urban Management.
The Master's Program entrance examination is for applicants who wish to enroll in April 2016, and the Doctoral Program entrance examination is for applicants who wish to enroll in April 2016 or in October 2015. The examinations have been taking place in the Katsura Campus. Be sure to go to the correct exam venue.

Important Information Concerning English Examination
Some applicants have to submit a TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS score.
In the case of TOEFL, only a TOEFL-iBT (internet-Based Test) or TOEFL-PBT (Paper-Based Test) score certificate (Official Score Report) is accepted.
In the case of TOEIC, only a score certificate (Official Score Certificate) for a TOEIC Open Test conducted in Japan or Korea is accepted.
Note that score certificates for group tests such as TOEFL-ITP and TOEIC-IP are invalid.

(b) Interview Exam I (400 points) An oral examination of about 30 minutes is conducted concerning the applicant's basic scholastic ability, with emphasis on Master's Program research content or a field related to the applicant's work content. |
(c) Interview Exam II (400 points) The applicant makes an oral presentation (15 minutes or less) based on the separately submitted document, Research Experience and Study / Research Plan, and an oral examination (about 30 minutes, including the presentation) is conducted. Use of a personal computer and a projector in the oral presentation is permitted. |
2) Special examination for full-time workers (total of 1,000 points) |
(a) Essay (500 points) An essay is assigned concerning the applicant's basic scholastic ability, with emphasis on Master's Program research content or a field related to the applicant's work content. |
(b) Interview Exam (500 points) The applicant makes an oral presentation (15 minutes or less) based on the separately submitted document, Research Experience and Study / Research Plan, and an oral examination (about 30 minutes, including the presentation) is conducted. Use of a personal computer and a projector in the oral presentation is permitted. |
3) Special examination for PhD thesis draft (total of 1,000 points) |
