Structural Dynamics

The research topics of Structural Dynamics group are centered around various engineering issues related to structural dynamics, earthquake engineering, and design of structural systems for large-scale infrastructures. The area of interest also covers the application of the state-of-the-art dynamic response modification devices, sophisticated high performance structures.

Research Topics

Evaluation and prediction on the environmental actions, material deteriorations and mechanical behaviors of concrete structures are being developed. Specifically, on clarifying the mechanism of chloride ingress into concrete under marine atmosphere, environmental action models and various time-dependent models of required behaviors are being constructed to simulate the long-term deterioration of concrete structures due to air-born salt.

Research Topics

Earthquake-induced Dynamics

The major field of this topic is seismic performance of structures. Especially, the developement of high seismic performance structure, the evaluation of structural control technologies are investigated. Also, the methodology of hybrid simulation of structural systems is another research topic.
